Let”s briefly explain…..
We are now living increasingly more sedentary lifestyles.
Unless you have a physically demanding job, there is a good chance you spend the bulk of your day sitting on your butt.
The only time you move is to get food or take a bathroom break.
You then get in your car, drive home, and sit on your butt even more.
Unless of course you are one of the lucky ones who works from home. In this case you just get up and walk into another room.
Either way, you spend a lot of time on your butt.
This has become the new norm as more people opt to play Candy Crush instead of going to the gym to workout. (I love Candy Crush by the way)
But here’s the interesting thing….
Just because a person eats bad and doesn’t move much doesn’t mean they are overweight or obese.
There are plenty of people who eat like crap and never exercise but still manage to keep their calories in vs calories out ratio in check.
These people become known as skinny fat.
Skinny fat, which in the medical world is referred to as metabolically obese normal weight, is when a person has too much fat and not enough muscle.
So while they may be slim, they aren’t healthy. Nor does their body look lean and aesthetic.
If you want to avoid being a skinny fat person, the first thing you need to do is improve your diet.
This doesn’t mean you need to go cold turkey and cut out everything.
It simply means you need to make a conscience effort to eat better. This can be done one habit at a time.
The second thing you need to do is start exercising.
The type of exercise you do really doesn’t matter.
As long as you are stimulating your muscles you will be good to go.
